Breaking: Bill Cosby's Sexual Assault Case Ends in Mistrial

Bill Cosby‘s sexual assault trial is now over.

According to TMZ, after more than five days of jury deliberations, the trial concluded in a mistrial, as the jury was unable to unanimously reach a verdict on any of the three sexual assault counts. However, the fallen TV dad may not be completely pardoned just yet.

ABC News reports that though a mistrial proved to be the end result, Kevin R. Steel, the district attorney from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, who initially brought the charges, declared that he will re-try the case.

Despite the jury members’ lengthy deliberations, they remained deadlocked forcing the judge to demand that they reach a decision by permitting them from ending their session until 9:30 p.m.

Cosby, 79, never once took the stand throughout the week-long trial. However, excerpts from his 2005 to 2006 depositions in a civil suit brought on by accuser Andrea Constand were read aloud.

In total, the jury is said to have deliberated for 52 hours, which proved to be longer than the actual trial, itself.

Recap the events of the deadlock in the BET Breaks video, above.
