BlackInAmerica.News founded in 2016 as a direct result of the unprecedented numbers of young African American men shot across the nation is a news site dedicated to providing the African American Community and critical thinkers with information across several categories from a progressive perspective.
The purpose for BlackInAmerica.News is to evolve from a small independent project by our founder Rev. Dr. L. Ronald Durham, author, builder, revivalist, lecturer, teacher, and retired pastor into a virtual newsroom of reporters and editors covering the intersections between politics, policy, culture, and social justice.
BlackInAmerica.News seeks to engage our readers on issues that have a real impact on people’s lives. Our progressive values inform our news priorities. Driven by a mission to hold the powerful accountable and to lift up the marginalized whose voices aren’t often heard, we seek independent reporters to find verifiable stories that aren’t getting enough attention in the national media. We work to advance the public understanding of what’s going on in the African American community — and why Black Lives Matter — by reporting on facts without relying on false equivalencies, by exposing hypocrisy in our political system, and by translating policy decisions into personal experiences.
While depending currently, on news stories from several different sources, our goal is to identify qualified writers, who are searching for a forum to report stories of interest. When we are financially in a position to compensate writers this will be our priority. Until then we wish to serve as that place where new writers can cut their teeth, and experienced writers can gain a larger reach as they use this space to advance their visibility.
We are committed to accuracy and transparency in all of our coverage.
